Welcome to Portraits of Petaluma Pioneers, a website created by the Petaluma Museum Association to provide public access to the early portraits collection of the Petaluma Historical Library & Museum. PetalumaPioneers.org serves as an archive of portraits arranged by both the photographers’ and sitters’ names. By clicking on one of the two archive headings on the site, you can easily access the 400 + images in the PHL&M collection.

The Bibliography heading on the site contains an extensive list divided into sections of interest including Petaluma history, the early history of portrait photography, the care of vintage photographs and Sonoma County genealogical research.

The site also provides for provides a list of URLs to other institutions’ collections, all which contain 19th century Petaluma portraits.
